Sudhir Kushwaha MD

Dr. Kushwaha serves as the Medical Director of Cardiac Transplant and Director of The Mechanical Circulatory Support Program at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Kushwaha is a world-renowned specialist in the field of circulatory failure, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support with over 25 years experience. He has been involved in this field since the development of the first mechanical circulatory devices and therefore has a depth of knowledge and experience, which is applied directly to patient care.
He has published extensively with several landmark papers in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Circulation, JACC and Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. His publications and abstracts number over 200 and he has presented in the US and internationally at over 100 Cardiology and Heart Failure conferences. Dr. Kushwaha trained at University of London, UK and undertook research in Cardiac Transplantation at Harefield Hospital, UK before going on to further training and research at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has held faculty appointments at Mount Sinai Medical Center and University of North Carolina before joining Mayo Clinic in 2000.
Dr. Kushwaha is the primary named inventor of the MI-VADTM device.
